Drake crawled for the first time today, woo hoo!!!! He has been rolling around and scooting, but today he finally managed to move forward while on his hands and knees. He didn't go far, and he didn't go fast, but he went :)
We spent the majority of the day at the National Zoo in Washington D.C. for Roland's company picnic. We took a shuttle from his work to the zoo (saved us $20 in parking, yes the zoo is free as long as you don't park there). We wandered around the zoo a bit, met up with our good friends Gary & Amy (+ children) and ate some yummy picnic-y food. The zoo was fairly decent, better than Madison's, not as good as San Diego's or Omaha's. I had a good time until I got overheated, which did not improve on the shuttle back to the car because I was in the back with no air, ughh.... I was much happier once I got home and took a shower.

After Roland spent 4 hours (yes FOUR hours) mowing the lawn, we went to dinner at Ruby Tuesday's. Here Roland is amusing the boy.

Hi, I just wandered into your blog while browsing and couldn't help but notice we have little boys just a few months apart from each other. Yours is SUCH a cutie!! I love how he's smiling so big at Daddy in that last picture!
What a fun day (well, except for being hot!) and the picture of little Drake and the monkey statue is priceless. Your boy is soooooo photogenic!! Always a smile for the camera!!

Dude - that pic with the monkey statue should be a postcard. Or an advertisement for something where an unbearably cute kid would be a good spokesperson. Seriously. How do you stand all that cuteness every day?
