Happy Birthday To Me!!!

So Friday was my 33rd birthday. It was pretty low-key, since I couldn't really plan anything specific just in case munchkin decided to come early. One great thing about my birthday being on the 7th means that it is always during the labor day holiday week. So I usually work the holiday and take my birthday off. I believe that no one should work on their birthday and that they should be able to play instead. So I worked Monday and gave myself a 3 day weekend this weekend. So what did I do for my birthday? Not much, lol. I slept in. Roland came home from work early (which was amazing since he worked some serious overtime this week) and we ran to Target to get some stuff I needed. We stopped for some cake and ice cream on the way home. Played some World of Warcraft. I also had Roland drive me to Borders to see my book club group. I didn't read the book this month, but I figured it would be the last time I would get to see the gals before Drake gets here. So it was a nice birthday, but not action packed like some past birthdays, which included seeing the musical "Wicked", going to Magic Mountain or seeing Godsmack live in their hometown. Maybe next year will be more adventuresome :)

Today I went to Roland's co-workers surprise baby shower and we had my birthday dinner at PF Changs with our good friends Gary, Amy and their little ones. It was a great dinner, even though there was an hour wait to sit.

Drake's Baby Shower

Sorry that I have not had a chance to do a full post on the baby shower from a few weeks ago. I have been really tired lately and focusing on just getting my hours in for work and resting. Happily Drake has blogged about the shower and you can go here for the details of the shower and here to see pictures.
I went to the doctor again last Friday and everything is just fine. We had another non-stress test and this time there were no contractions, woo hoo, hehe. Monday is another sonogram, so maybe I'll have some cute pics to post.

Busy Weekend

Well I had a crazy busy weekend. Last Wednesday Roland's parents came into town to visit and for the baby shower held on Saturday. Friday I had a doctor's appointment and had a non-stress test. During the test they discovered I was having contractions. I had NO idea and didn't feel a thing. The doctor checked me and thankfully I was not dilated at all, but she decided to send me over to the hospital to be admitted into the Labor and Delivery ward. When I got there the place was packed and they put me in the kitchen, yes the KITCHEN!! to wait for a room, lol. After about 15-20 minutes they had a room ready and they hooked me up to the fetal / contractions monitor and started giving me fluids. The fluids helped with the contractions but they did not go away. They followed the fluids up with 3 shots to stop the contractions. All of this helped, but the contractions did not go away completely. After a few hours the doctor on call decided to release me and I was to go home and be on bedrest and drink lots of fluids until I could get an appointment with a doctor on Monday or Tuesday. That night our good friend from Austin arrived and ended up having to help clean up the house for the baby shower on Saturday. Yes I will admit it, I was happy that I didn't have to clean, but I feel really bad that everyone else had to do the work instead.
Saturday was the baby shower. It was fantastic and thanks to everyone who could make it or sent in presents from across the county. All the gifts are greatly appreciated and there will be a post coming soon with pictures and details.
After the shower we drove up to DC and looked at the sites. It was pretty cool to see all the monuments and buildings at night. I stayed in the car unless I had to go potty :)
Sunday I did a full day of bed rest and camped out in the bedroom. I watched tv and took a nap with Roland, which was really nice.
Monday I went back to the doctor and found out that everything is just fine. No more contractions and Drake is doing wonderfully. They checked me again and I am still not dilated, which is great.
So no worries, Drake and I are great and taking it easy. 5 more weeks to go until his due date...

Drake's Baby Shower

Since so many of our family and friends live soooo far away I have decided to set the baby shower date now, so if people would like to come they can make plans in advance. The shower will be Saturday August 11th, in the late afternoon/evening. Of course we would love to have as many people to come out and celebrate baby Drake's upcoming arrival, but we understand if you can't make it cuz its sooooo far away. We are also planning on trying to figure out a way so people can watch the shower on the internet if they cannot make it here, more details on that once we figure it out :)
