Weight Updates

So the other day Drake went to the Pediatrician for his 1 year appointment. He is still in the 10th percentile for height and weight at 28 1/2" tall and weighs in at 19.8 lbs.

Tonight I went to my second Weight Watchers meeting. I lost 4.2 lbs. woo hoo!!! So far it is going well and I am staying on target. I just need to pay attention to what I am eating and track it all. I am also using their online tools to keep track of what I am eating, it's really easy, especially since I am near my computer all day long.

Drake Updates

Drake had a follow up doctor's appointment yesterday to make sure he has gained some weight. He is now 17 lbs. 10 oz. and gained 1 lb. 4 oz. since his last doc appointment 6 weeks ago. So all the hard work of forcing formula on him has worked and the doctor was very happy to see that he gained the weight. :)

Other Drake milestones:
Today he waved at me for the first time :) He has been putting his arm up in the air the last few days, but this morning was the first time he actually waved his arm around :)
In the last week he has been taking a few steps. I wouldn't call it "walking" yet, but he has been trying to step between objects.

Stardust and Drake

Roland and I went to see Stardust this evening. OH MY GOODNESS!!! This movie is completely brilliant. If you enjoy the fantasy genre at all you MUST see this movie.
I have been wanting to read a Neil Gaiman novel for a while now (this movie is based on one of his books) and now I will definitely pick one up when I get a chance.

In other news I had a sonogram appointment this morning. Drake is doing wonderfully and looked great. He is still a boy and he is currently 6 lbs. 14 oz. with a predicated birth weight of around 8 lbs. - which is perfect :)

Drake's Baby Shower

Sorry that I have not had a chance to do a full post on the baby shower from a few weeks ago. I have been really tired lately and focusing on just getting my hours in for work and resting. Happily Drake has blogged about the shower and you can go here for the details of the shower and here to see pictures.
I went to the doctor again last Friday and everything is just fine. We had another non-stress test and this time there were no contractions, woo hoo, hehe. Monday is another sonogram, so maybe I'll have some cute pics to post.
I hope you have a great weekend.

Busy Weekend

Well I had a crazy busy weekend. Last Wednesday Roland's parents came into town to visit and for the baby shower held on Saturday. Friday I had a doctor's appointment and had a non-stress test. During the test they discovered I was having contractions. I had NO idea and didn't feel a thing. The doctor checked me and thankfully I was not dilated at all, but she decided to send me over to the hospital to be admitted into the Labor and Delivery ward. When I got there the place was packed and they put me in the kitchen, yes the KITCHEN!! to wait for a room, lol. After about 15-20 minutes they had a room ready and they hooked me up to the fetal / contractions monitor and started giving me fluids. The fluids helped with the contractions but they did not go away. They followed the fluids up with 3 shots to stop the contractions. All of this helped, but the contractions did not go away completely. After a few hours the doctor on call decided to release me and I was to go home and be on bedrest and drink lots of fluids until I could get an appointment with a doctor on Monday or Tuesday. That night our good friend from Austin arrived and ended up having to help clean up the house for the baby shower on Saturday. Yes I will admit it, I was happy that I didn't have to clean, but I feel really bad that everyone else had to do the work instead.
Saturday was the baby shower. It was fantastic and thanks to everyone who could make it or sent in presents from across the county. All the gifts are greatly appreciated and there will be a post coming soon with pictures and details.
After the shower we drove up to DC and looked at the sites. It was pretty cool to see all the monuments and buildings at night. I stayed in the car unless I had to go potty :)
Sunday I did a full day of bed rest and camped out in the bedroom. I watched tv and took a nap with Roland, which was really nice.
Monday I went back to the doctor and found out that everything is just fine. No more contractions and Drake is doing wonderfully. They checked me again and I am still not dilated, which is great.
So no worries, Drake and I are great and taking it easy. 5 more weeks to go until his due date...

Phone Number and Drake Info

Roland and I have updated our cell phone numbers. If you did not receive an email with the new number, let me know I'll forward the new info to you.

I have had a really busy week doing stuff related to the baby. Last Saturday Roland and I went to part 2 of Childbirth Prep classes. Wednesday evening we went to Baby Care Basics and Thursday evening we attended a Breastfeeding class. I am really glad that we went to the classes, it was nice to discuss the topics and ask questions to a health care professional. I feel a bit better about my ability to get through labor and take care of a newborn.

Thursday I had a doctor's appointment and Drake is doing wonderfully. My blood pressure is still under control, he is the right size and he passed the non-stress test with flying colors.

Friday I went back to the doctor's office for another sonogram. She said that he is doing great, looks great, is still definitely a boy and is right on target for everything. He weighs 4 lbs. 1 oz. now. I left the appointment on cloud 9, super happy about how well this pregnancy is coming along.

Here is a picture from the sonogram, you can kinda see his little face.

Drake and Books

Today Roland and I got up early for part 1 of 2 childbirth preparation classes. It was a bit long, 9:30 - 4:30 with an hour break for lunch, but I found it interesting and helpful to discuss the different things to expect during labor. Part 2 is next Saturday. I already knew about most everything that was discussed, but it is always good to hear it again and ask questions. I found it amusing that they discussed and practiced "relaxation" techniques, which was basically meditation. The teacher scolded me for relaxing to much and breathing too deeply, I take that as a good sign for me :) I am going to try to meditate more often to get some practice in before Drakey gets here.
Yesterday I had a doctor's appointment. Everything is going great! Found out that the 3 hour glucose test that I took last week came back negative so I do not have gestational diabetes, woo hoo! My blood pressure is also under control now that I am taking medication for it and Drake is right on target, size-wise for 30 weeks. I left the appointment very happy and relieved :)
Went to my book club meeting last night and had a great time gabbing with the gals. We just read Clan of the Cave Bear. I am glad that I read the book, but did not enjoy it as much as i expected I would. I just didn't really like the author's writing style, way to much description for my taste. I am interested in what happens to the main character, but not enough to read the next books, lol. We are reading The Memory Keeper's Daughter for the next month. I am a little bummed that it seems that I won't be able to make the next meeting, but I will be able to see all the ladies soon for Drake's baby shower.
I also bought the coolest new Tarot deck that is out: Mystic Faerie Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft. She is an AMAZING artist, I just love her work!! The deck is beautiful and I can't wait to start using it.

Another Day Another Doctors Apointment

Today Roland and I went into the doctor's for another sonogram. I just love seeing Drake moving around in there :) The doctor just wanted to make sure he was doing ok in there and according to the sonogram specialist he is doing pretty good. He is now 2 lbs. 12 oz. and is 29 weeks size-wise. Oh and he is no longer breech, which makes Roland really happy, he was a little worried about the breech thing. She tried really hard to get a good 3D picture of his face, but unfortunately Drake was being shy and wouldn't move his hands away from his face.
This was the best view she could come up with:

Cute little foot.

And for the biggest news of all, IT'S A BOY!!!!
We are sooo super excited about this. He kept moving around during the sonogram, but he did the one thing I asked earlier in the day, to not be shy and let us find out if it was a she or a he :) His first name will be Drake, we still have to figure out the middle name :)

Doctor's Appointment

Went to the baby doctor today. This time I actually meet one of the doctors of the practice and I was happily pleased that she was really nice. She checked my uterus size and she said it was normal for the age of the baby. We also got to hear the heartbeat again. Roland was actually there this time and was able to hear it in person instead of over the phone :) The next appointment is on May 7th and is an ultrasound, I'm soooo excited, I really hope we can find out the sex of the baby.
