Since so many of our family and friends live soooo far away I have decided to set the baby shower date now, so if people would like to come they can make plans in advance. The shower will be Saturday August 11th, in the late afternoon/evening. Of course we would love to have as many people to come out and celebrate baby Drake's upcoming arrival, but we understand if you can't make it cuz its sooooo far away. We are also planning on trying to figure out a way so people can watch the shower on the internet if they cannot make it here, more details on that once we figure it out :)

Roland and I have been looking forward to this day for weeks now!!!! The baby is healthy and seems to be average on weight, size and heartbeat, which is FANTASTIC!!!

We are sooo super excited about this. He kept moving around during the sonogram, but he did the one thing I asked earlier in the day, to not be shy and let us find out if it was a she or a he :) His first name will be Drake, we still have to figure out the middle name :)Labels: baby, doctor's appointment, Drake, pregnancy, sonogram
I am now 20 weeks pregnant, which means we are half way there :) I am starting to feel the baby moving around a bit more, which is really cool. I can't wait until the ultrasound on Monday, hopefully the baby won't be shy and we can find out what the sex is. I really want to think of it as she or he not just an it. It now measures 5.6 to 6.4 inches long and weighs about 9 ounces.
Went to the baby doctor today. This time I actually meet one of the doctors of the practice and I was happily pleased that she was really nice. She checked my uterus size and she said it was normal for the age of the baby. We also got to hear the heartbeat again. Roland was actually there this time and was able to hear it in person instead of over the phone :) The next appointment is on May 7th and is an ultrasound, I'm soooo excited, I really hope we can find out the sex of the baby.

the baby block on TLC. Every weekday I now watch A Baby Story and my favorite is Bringing Home Baby. These shows are great because they are not full of the really scary baby stories, but show what actually happens during labor and the first few days home with the newborn. I think I have learned a lot, mostly to just go with the flow by watching other people struggle through it. Don't get me wrong I am still nervous and bit scared about taking care of newborn, me with a newborn, how scary, I could barely babysit when I was a teenager, lol. But I am sooo excited and blessed to be getting the opportunity.

Went to the doctor's this afternoon and I got to hear the baby's heartbeat!!! :) It was soo awesome to actually hear the heartbeat. The only downside was that Roland was not able to be there to hear it because he is down in Virginia looking for a place for us to live. Sorry baby, I didn't realize that they would be checking for the heartbeat during this appointment.
:)
Sorry I haven't posted lately, but I have been waiting to tell you where we were moving. Unfortunately I still cannot do that. Hopefully early next week I will have some news :) The only big thing lately was the Nor'Easter that hit the area yesterday. Wow, did it snow :) I'm glad to have experienced a Nor'Easter once before we moved out of the New England area. Roland has started packing and I have been working. The pregnancy is still going well.
Have a great weekend!
Roland and I just got back from the doctors office and everything seems fine. The due date is September 19th, so the baby will be a virgo, unless it is 4 days or more overdue :) I was hoping it would be a virgo, hehe, but I feel sorry for Roland for having to live with 2 virgos, lol. They stole 8, yes EIGHT, vials of blood for all the initial tests. But thankfully Roland drove us to Dunkin Donuts afterwards to make up for the theft, lol.
Hope you have a great weekend.
Sorry I haven't posted much lately, but there really isn't much to say except that Roland is on the job hunt and I'm still pregnant (thank goodness). I will warn you now, this blog may get really bogged down in pregnancy issues, so if you are not interested just skip those posts :)
Roland has 2 on-site interviews in the next week, so hopefully a job opportunity will come out of them.
I have my first doctor's appointment on Friday, and hopefully will have a somewhat official due date at that time. I can guess now, since I have figured out when conception should have occurred, but there are soooo many ways to figure it out, so I will see what the nurse says on Friday. Oh yeah, my first appointment is with my doctors nurse, not my doctor, but I'm fine with that, since it will mostly be questions on what my body is going through, urine tests and blood tests. I'm making Roland come with me, just in case they take more than 1 vial of blood, and being pregnant I'm not sure how woozy that will make feel, so I don't want to risk driving myself home. After the nurse gives me a due date I'll replace the weight loss ticker at the top of this blog with a baby ticker.
I haven't had any morning sickness yet. I have had days of some nausea and gas, but it has only made me uncomfortable, not outright sick. I don't think I have been to moody, but you would probably have to ask Roland that, he would know better. I have been STARVING!! Yet half the time I don't feel like eating, I know that eating would make it better, but it's hard to get the eating done, its soo weird, lol. It's so nice to not be dieting for once, and I can accept that my body will get fat and stay that way for like 18 more months. Once that has passed I will go back to the exercise, healthy diet thing again :)
